CMS has issued its proposed rule for the 2025 Medicare hospital inpatient prospective payment system, suggesting a payment increase of 2.6%. According to the American Hospital Association, this update would not be enough at a time when hospitals are already struggling to stay open. 

"We were thrilled with the meeting and the attendance," ACC President Cathie Biga, RN, told Cardiovascular Business.

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Warren, an outspoken critic of private equity's influence, praised the group's efforts. "Together, we’re taking on this trillion-dollar, behemoth industry that’s hurting working people and sucking money out of the rest of the economy," she said. 

"This was an unneeded burden, which was solely adding to the administrative hassles of medicine," said American Society of Nuclear Cardiology President Larry Phillips.

The rumors, it seems, were true. Once the deal is finalized, Shockwave Medical will operate as a business unit within Johnson & Johnson MedTech.

San Francisco-based Osso VR and the American College of Cardiology have collaborated on advanced LAAO simulations. The two groups first started working together back in 2022. 

The recall is due to ongoing concerns about the devices breaking. Three patients have been injured as a result of this issue.

Researchers explored data from nearly 70,000 patients, sharing their findings in the American Journal of Cardiology.
