A Fresno, California, cardiologist has been placed on five years probation following accusations that he sent inappropriate, “annoying” text messages to a teenage girl in 2017, the Fresno Bee has reported.
The doctor, Khoi Manh Le, reportedly met the 17-year-old during her time in the UCSF Fresno Doctors Academy Program three years ago, according to the Bee. The program aims to encourage middle- and high-schoolers to explore medical and health careers.
Le pleaded no contest in 2017 to one count of “anonymous telephone calls” after he allegedly sent repeated suggestive messages to the girl, who said he continually tried to get her alone. The pair had exchanged numbers after Le offered the teen college and career counsel.
Terms of Le’s probation include having a third-party chaperone present when examining or treating women, and he’s prohibited from females under age 18. He’s also barred from supervising physician assistants or advanced practice nurses.
