SIIM: Vital updates Vitrea Enterprise Suite
MINNEAPOLIS--Vital Images debuted Vitrea Enterprise Suite 1.3 with new clinical capabilities at the Society of Imaging Informatics in Medicine (SIIM) annual conference last week.

The release includes adult and pediatric cardiac applications and an updated set of workflow tools via the web in a thin-client technology.

New applications include cardiac multi-chamber analysis with adult and pediatric options that automate atrial and ventricular chamber analysis and leverage lower dose CT scanning protocols. Clinical enhancements to cardiac structural analysis tools, Vessel Probe and Vessel Walk, allow navigation through cardiovascular anatomy. A host of additional workflow features make it easier to review CT and MR scans, while a new edge-detecting contouring tool, single-click volume segmentation and improved report access streamline case reviews and enhance communication between clinicians.

Vitrea Enterprise Suite 1.3 also now enables web-based access to MeVis Medical Solutions' Visia CT Lung computer-aided detection (CAD) system for chest CT. MeVis' patented CAD technology platform integrates within Vital's reading workflow, according to the Minneapolis company. In addition, Medicsight ColonCAD integration and a new myocardial perfusion application are available outside the U.S.

“The second generation client server platform is designed to take advantage of new IT, such as cloud computing and virtualization,” explained Chief Technology Officer Vikram Simha. With second-generation client server architecture, Vitrea Enterprise Suite separates data management from rendering and processing with each scaling at different rates.
