William Oetgen, MD, MBA, has been elected chairman of the MedStar Health Board of Directors, the American College of Cardiology (ACC) announced in a release today. He will serve a two-year term.
Prior to his election, Oetgen was the executive vice president for science and quality, education and publications at the ACC. A U.S. army vet, Saint Louis University School of Medicine grad and cardiologist for decades, he has served on the MedStar Health Board since 2005 and has been the vice chair since 2013.
“MedStar Health has a noble mission to serve patients, those who care for them and the community that surrounds us,” Oetgen said in the ACC release. “I am honored to be elected to this position and to have the opportunity to work with MedStar and the other distinguished members of the board in furthering that mission.”
