Health IT Future Vision: Transforming Care

Aneesh Chopra, the first federal chief technology officer (CTO) of the U.S., will deliver the closing keynote address Sunday afternoon on certification of health IT. He also will highlight the current and future state of health information exchanges (HIEs) and issues dealing with interoperability, data standards and clinical messaging.

When President Obama announced Chopra's nomination, he outlined his aims for the CTO, saying it was Chopra's job to “promote technological innovation to help the country meet its goals such as job creation, reducing health care costs, and protecting the homeland.”

Prior to his government service, Chopra was managing director for the Advisory Board Company, a healthcare think tank for hospitals and health systems.
