Heart Hospital of Austin has selected Philips’ iE33 xMATRIX ultrasound system with live 3D transesophageal echo (TEE).

The Texas-based hospital, which specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease, chose the system to assist with valve repair surgery, specifically for tricuspid and mitral valve repair procedures. With xMATRIX technology, the iE33 supports 3D, 2D and color flow cardiac ultrasound exams. Clinicians can switch from 2D to 3D imaging at the touch of a button to incorporate volume imaging into routine exams, according to North Andover, Mass.-based Philips.
