iCAD debuts virtual colonoscopy product at ECR

iCAD, a computer-aided detection (CAD) application developer, debuted a CT colonography (CTC) CAD product at the European College of Radiology's (ECR) 2009 meeting in Vienna, Austria, this week.

The Nashua, N.H.-based company said its VeraLook is a CAD solution designed to aid radiologists in the detection of polyps during their review of CTC exams.

iCAD said the VeraLook technology uses algorithms to highlight suspicious polyps warranting closer review by a radiologist. Also, VeraLook has the potential to reduce oversight errors that can occur during a virtual colonoscopy study review due to the large number of images generated by the CT system, according to the company.

VeraLook is currently an investigational device in the United States.
