The Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography (SCCT) announced that Matthew J. Budoff, MD, had won its 2016 Gold Medal Award.
Budoff, the director of cardiac CT at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, Calif., will receive the award at the SCCT’s annual meeting in Orlando on June 24.
Budoff, a founding member of SCCT, served as the organization’s president from 2010 to 2011. He was also chair of the annual meeting’s planning committee.
The SCCT said in a news release that Budoff’s research focuses on early detection of cardiovascular events, the progression of coronary calcium in high-risk patients and analyzing the use of non-contrast CT scans of the heart.
