Biosensors nabs Spectrum Dynamics for $51M

Biosensors International Group will acquire Spectrum Dynamics in a deal estimated at $51 million.

Danville, Calif.-based Spectrum Dynamics is a medical imaging company that develops high-definition functional imaging technology for cardiac and other applications. Its products include the D-SPECT Cardiac Imaging System that can be used by interventional cardiologists for diagnostic and other purposes.

The agreement, which is subject to the fulfillment of certain conditions, allows Biosensors to acquire most of Spectrum Dynamics’ assets for about $51 million. Spectrum Dynamics has more than 70 issued or pending patents with products approved in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Japan. The companies are expected to collaborate in a joint venture on non-cardiac applications as well.

Biosensors, headquartered in Singapore, specializes in medical devices, including stents and catheters.
