Three facilities receive CMS approval to perform destination therapy with ventricular assist devices

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently announced that three facilities had met its standards for destination therapy with ventricular assist devices.

The agency approved North Shore University Health System in Evanston, Illinois, Oct. 26, as well as the St. Francis Hospital in Roslyn, New York, and the Swedish Medical Center Cherry Hill in Seattle Nov. 9.

CMS has approved 1,580 facilities to perform these procedures, including eight this year. Here are the other facilities that have been approved in 2016:

  • The University of Kansas Hospital Authority in Kansas City, Kansas.
  • Saint Cloud Hospital in Saint Cloud, Minnesota.
  • Lubbock County Hospital District in Lubbock, Texas.
  • University Hospitals and Health System in Jackson, Mississippi.
  • Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center in Clackamas, Oregon.
  • North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York.
