Federal government spends more than $100B for Medicare Part D

In 2013, the federal government spent $103 billion on prescription drugs for Medicare beneficiaries, the New York Times reports.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released the Medicare Part D program's data to the public on April 30. CMS spent the most money on Nexium, followed by Advair Diskus and Crestor.
