Zoll adds cardiac support system to portfolio

Zoll Medical is expanding its cardiovascular portfolio by acquiring assets from the maker of a cardiopulmonary life support system.

The deal with Ampfing, Germany-based Lifebridge Medizintechnik AG will give Zoll access to the CE-certified and FDA-cleared medical devices for use in an emergency setting. The Lifebridge system provides circulatory support and extracorporeal oxygenation to patients in acute circulatory or respiratory failure. It can be used to support patients with severe, acute cardiovascular disorders until they receive appropriate therapy.

Zoll is based in Chelmsford, Mass.
