SCAI, ACCF to help sponsor accreditations of cardiovascular facilities
The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI) and the American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF) will jointly sponsor the Accreditation for Cardiovascular Excellence (ACE), an organization that reviews and accredits facilities for invasive cardiac and endovascular procedures that meet certain quality guidelines.

ACE this month will begin to accredit hospitals performing carotid artery stenting and will later trend to accrediting facilities that perform PCI and other cardiac interventions.

ACE provides unbiased, standardized evaluations to assess whether or not quality guidelines and safety protocols are being met during certain cardiac procedures, in addition to outcomes. Facilities who meet the organizations accreditation are recognized for two years.

To be considered for accreditation, providers must go through an extensive review process beginning with the comprehensive application found here.
