Gov. Leavitt joins Medtronic's board
Medtronic's board of directors has unanimously voted to elect Michael O. Leavitt, founder and chairman of Leavitt Partners and former governor of Utah, to the board as an independent director.

In his current position at Leavitt Partners, Leavitt advises clients in the healthcare and food safety sectors. Previously, Leavitt served in the Cabinet of President George W. Bush, first as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (2003 to 2005) and then as secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (2005 to 2009), which includes the FDA and the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services, among other agencies. Prior to his service in the federal government, he served three terms as governor of Utah (1993 to 2003).
