AtheroMed EASEs into PAD catheter trial
AtheroMed has begun enrolling patients into the EASE (Endovascular Atherectomy Safety and Effectiveness) trial that will evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the Phoenix Atherectomy catheter, a device used to treat peripheral arterial disease (PAD).

The Phoenix catheter cuts, captures and conveys arterial plaque into an external bag, and has a deflectable tip that is used to treat a range of blood vessel sizes with a single insertion, according to the Menlo Park, Calif.-based company.

Currently, the Phoenix catheter is approved for investigational use only in the U.S., but has gained a CE mark for use in the European Union.
