Abbott unveils Voyager coronary dilation catheter
Abbott has launched its Voyager NC coronary dilatation catheter, a next-generation balloon dilatation catheter with high-pressure capability to treat patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).

The Voyager NC Coronary Dilatation catheter is a minimally invasive medical device to treat CAD, available in a variety of diameters (from 2 mm to 5 mm) and lengths (from 6 mm to 25 mm) on an exchange delivery system, according to the Abbott Park, Ill.-based company.

Abbott said it engineered into the Voyager NC balloon dilatation catheter to include:
  • A tip with a smooth, rounded shape designed to deflect off stent struts and balloon delivery through stents;
  • Tungsten markers designed to help physicians navigate through arteries and position the balloon within a treatment area; and
  • Bi-layer balloon material designed to make the balloon thinner, enabling controlled balloon growth.

The Voyager NC is now available in the U.S., Europe and select countries in Asia and Latin America, the company said.
