WASHINGTON – The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (SCAI), the leading voice for interventional cardiology, has named Ms. Francesca Dea, MBA, its new Executive Director. “Ms. Dea distinguished herself as a dynamic, forward-thinking executive with the ability to drive results in a growing organization,” said SCAI President Kenneth Rosenfield, MD, MHCDS, MSCAI. “The search committee unanimously endorsed Ms. Dea for her strategic leadership, enthusiasm, and passion. We are confident that she is the right individual to lead us in our ongoing mission to Save and Enhance Lives.”  An executive with more than 20 years of association experience, Dea previously served as the executive director of The Obesity Society (TOS), an organization dedicated to advancing the science-based understanding of the causes, consequences, prevention and treatment of obesity. She is credited with facilitating and implementing a 5-year strategic plan, establishing strong advocacy networks, rebuilding the organization’s financial reserves, launching National Obesity Care Week and doubling the revenue of TOS’s annual meeting. Prior to her tenure at TOS, she served as vice president and chief operating officer of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA). While at NAIFA, Dea stabilized the organization by revamping and enhancing the value of NAIFA membership. She is also the founder of Gordian Solutions, LLC, a consulting company which provided support for non-profit organizations and small businesses. Dea holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, and a Master’s degree in business administration from The Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School in Baltimore, MD. “SCAI serves as the preeminent voice for interventional cardiology in a constantly evolving healthcare environment,” says Dea. “My priorities will include creating new strategic partnerships, increasing our educational opportunities, further developing our public education initiatives, enhancing value for our members, growing membership, and broadening the reach of the organization.” Dea starts at The Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions Foundation on Monday, February 6, 2017.
